The Senior Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the Accounting Department at Nexstar Broadcasting by engaging in various activities related to the monthly financial closing process. This includes evaluating the financial results of multiple television stations, preparing monthly journal entries, adhering to internal SOX compliance, and executing other accounting responsibilities.

This position requires collaboration with both internal and external teams to ensure the completion of various accounting tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
- Generate and submit monthly journal entries for music licensing fees, trade agreements, and film broadcasting rights.
- Investigate and reconcile cash accounts, providing comprehensive explanations and adjustments for discrepancies.
- Develop annual film budgets for payment and amortization concerning first and second run programming.
- Reconcile and analyze assigned general ledger accounts.
- Collaborate closely with Regional Business Managers for designated markets.
- Prepare and maintain account reconciliations in Blackline for assigned markets.
- Execute all month-end, quarter-end, and year-end responsibilities to ensure accurate and timely financial closing.
- Assist the Accounts Payable team by reviewing and approving film invoices prior to processing.
- Serve as Business Administrator (BA) within DocLink for Hub accounts and for markets lacking a BA.
- Manage vendor account setup and maintenance in AX in conjunction with Accounts Payable.
- Participate in various ad hoc accounting projects.

Requirements & Skills:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics AX is advantageous.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A minimum of two years' experience in corporate accounting or financial analysis is preferred. Experience in the broadcasting sector and/or a public company environment is beneficial.
- Willingness to work additional hours as necessary to fulfill assignments and meet time-sensitive objectives.
