As the Senior Engineering Supervisor, you will oversee a team responsible for executing the Department's Capital Improvement Program and evaluating projects proposed by the Development Community.
This role is a high-level supervisory engineering position that entails significant fieldwork and administrative duties related to planning and delivering program services, addressing the needs of both internal and external stakeholders, and managing personnel.
The selected candidate will lead, supervise, and engage in a variety of projects and initiatives while representing the Public Utilities Department to external agencies and clients.
Key responsibilities for the Senior Engineering Supervisor include:
- Establishing, revising, and enforcing design policies and standards, ensuring compliance with city, departmental, and regulatory agency guidelines.
- Handling administrative tasks such as maintaining engineering records and plans, processing daily documentation including reports, requisitions, and personnel data.
- Collecting and managing information to support regular and special reports that document activities and events within the area of responsibility.
- Overseeing, mentoring, and training staff, including assigning and evaluating work outcomes.
- Developing and implementing solutions for a variety of engineering challenges.
- Assisting in the revision of long-term water and sanitary sewer master plans.
- Managing, controlling, and administering divisional operational and capital improvement budgets, including conducting cost analyses and projections.

Required Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related discipline is required. A master's degree is preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
A valid driver's license and a driving record that complies with the City Driving Standards are necessary. A Professional Engineer license is also mandatory.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
In addition to meeting the educational qualifications, this position requires a minimum of ten years of relevant, full-time equivalent experience.
Additional Notes
Employees may be required to work beyond their standard hours in response to urgent departmental needs and/or city-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support may involve work locations outside of regular job responsibilities.
