Job Title: Engineering Project Manager

Job Summary:

The selected candidate will oversee engineering designs for various types of transportation and stormwater projects, working closely with a team of professionals to successfully deliver engineering projects within schedule and budget. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering practices and local/state regulations, as well as excellent communication and project management skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee engineering designs for transportation and stormwater projects, ensuring compliance with established engineering practices and local/state regulations.
  • Manage the development of project contract documents, including construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Provide administrative control, including budgetary, scheduling, and quality control/quality assurance for all projects.
  • Prepare, approve, evaluate, and maintain related contract information, such as correspondence, reports, project invoices, contract modifications, proposals, and/or budgets.
  • Coordinate project implementation by interacting with various internal and external agencies and making recommendations for engineering and project success.
  • Research and negotiate techniques for project planning, accomplishment, and problem resolution.
  • Assist with state/federal grant applications.
  • Investigate and respond to inquiries and concerns for contractors, staff, the general public, and other organizational agencies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in construction, civil engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of six years of relevant, full-time equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards.
  • Virginia Professional Engineer license or a Professional Engineer license from another state with the ability to be licensed in Virginia within 6 months of employment under a reciprocity agreement.
  • Virginia DEQ SWM Plan Reviewer and/or Program Administrator certification within 12 months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
