Position Overview: The Global Director of Congress Strategy is a strategic leader responsible for enhancing the scientific representation at significant international congresses. This role demands an individual who excels in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment, equipped with advanced problem-solving capabilities. The position emphasizes collaboration across various functions, working closely with research, clinical development, regional medical affairs, and other interdisciplinary teams to formulate a comprehensive congress strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with global and regional teams to co-develop strategies for key congresses, focusing on both existing and upcoming therapeutic areas.
  • Engage with internal and external partners to design and implement innovative educational programs and industry-sponsored symposia, particularly in the field of autoimmune diseases.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of congress-related activities in conjunction with Medical Affairs teams, ensuring a unified and impactful scientific presence.
  • Work in tandem with regional Medical Affairs to manage the annual budget, supporting congress activities and sponsorship requests.
  • Establish a Medical Affairs Congress Community to facilitate decision-making and share best practices for achieving outstanding scientific representation at major international congresses.
  • Develop and implement clear roles and responsibilities for each congress to ensure effective collaboration between regional and global teams.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A visionary leader with strong influence skills and the ability to navigate complex organizational structures.
  • Proven track record in collaborative environments, demonstrating the capacity to solve intricate problems with agility and focus on quality.
  • Extensive experience in planning and executing scientific symposia.
  • Robust background in developing long-term strategic plans, including timelines and budgets.
  • Ability to engage deeply with scientific content and identify key educational opportunities.
  • Experience in utilizing agency partners to deliver high-quality congress programs with minimal regional oversight.
  • Thorough understanding of industry regulations and best practices.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, in a multicultural global setting.

Educational Background:

  • PharmD, PhD, or MD in relevant life sciences disciplines such as neurology, immunology, or rare diseases. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Over 8 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical sector, particularly in leading industry-sponsored symposia and scientific presentations.
  • Global experience or exposure to multiple regions is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
