Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with the Design Manager to execute and assess designs, ensuring proper approvals are obtained.
  • Apply relevant code requirements to job specifications effectively.
  • Act as a knowledgeable resource for designers within your region.
  • Leverage extensive industry knowledge to provide training, technical support, quality reviews, and troubleshooting for fellow designers.
  • Assist sales representatives and clients in identifying optimal protection solutions tailored to their needs.
  • Offer consultation to designers, project managers, and superintendents regarding modifications in design.
  • Assess designer assignments and timelines, providing recommendations to the Design Manager.
  • Deliver training and performance updates to the Design Manager.
  • Engage with colleagues by sharing insights, project statuses, skills, and knowledge.
  • Conduct site visits to provide assistance and technical expertise as required.
  • Utilize appropriate company resources to effectively address client challenges and related business issues.
  • Stay updated with the latest technological advancements, construction practices, regulatory changes, and industry trends.
  • Maintain awareness of the local business environment and apply insights to sales and client support activities.
  • Ensure accurate project documentation, including submittals and approvals.
  • Participate actively in planning meetings.
  • Provide timely and precise entries into operating systems and regularly update Compass.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Exemplify the Company's Core Values in all actions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • State Professional Engineer licensure in Fire Protection, with the ability to obtain multistate licensing.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in fire protection engineering and/or fire sprinkler system design, layout, and plan review.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD design.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic calculations and advanced math skills.
  • Experience with foam systems, deluge systems, and fire pumps.
  • Expertise in evaluating water supplies and sizing fire pumps.
  • Ability to review fire sprinkler layout drawings and calculations effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly in various formats.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and maintain a strong track record of timely project completion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to travel overnight occasionally.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to drive to job sites.
  • Flexibility to work weekends when necessary.
  • Preferred: 10 years of experience in fire protection engineering and/or fire sprinkler system design.
  • Preferred: Superior ability to interpret and apply NFPA (13) standards to new design requirements.
  • Preferred: Advanced experience with HydraCAD and HydraCALC.
  • Preferred: Proficiency in utilizing BIM (Building Information Modeling) and 3D CAD environments.
  • Preferred: Experience in leadership roles involving training, mentoring, and directing others.
  • Preferred: TWIC Card.
  • Preferred: NICET Level III or IV in Water Based Systems Layout.
