The Healthcare Financial Analyst Lead will play a pivotal role in supporting the Business Financial Officer (BFO) team within a complex and regulated Medicare Advantage environment. This position will oversee the MidAmerica market, which encompasses a diverse range of products and provider risk arrangements. The successful candidate will need to exhibit skills in Organizational Agility, Influential Leadership, and a strong Drive for Results.

This Micromarket BFO role is essential for steering financial strategy, leading planning and analysis, facilitating growth, and engaging in various functions that support the Medicare Advantage sector. The analyst will collaborate with product, pricing, and strategy teams to effectively manage the annual bid process, ensuring a balance between growth and profitability. Responsibilities include communicating financial outcomes and insights, while identifying opportunities to enhance gross margin through robust collaborative relationships. The candidate will work closely with the Market President and a wide array of matrix partners.

This position requires a proactive individual who is eager to learn the intricacies of the Medicare Advantage business and take accountability as a leader within the team and market. While experience requirements are minimal, a strong financial acumen and a willingness to learn and apply new concepts are essential. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Foster strong partnerships across a cross-functional business team.
  • Act as a credible finance lead for your market and matrix partners, influencing outcomes that enhance profitability.
  • Collaborate across teams to navigate the intricate Medicare annual bid process, balancing enterprise expectations for growth and profitability.
  • Understand the factors affecting revenue, medical expenses, operating expenses, growth, and overall profitability for a Medicare Advantage plan.
  • Analyze and clarify variances against expectations for market earnings and other segments of the business, applying critical thinking to identify areas for further investigation.
  • Utilize data from various sources to guide business partners on actions that improve the affordability and marketability of Medicare Advantage plans.
  • Contribute to the development of the market's multiyear growth strategy.
  • Present performance measures and incentive arrangements to primary care providers.
  • Support modeling for value-based and fee-for-service contracts, creating scenarios for various outcomes such as provider additions, terminations, and rate changes.
  • Assist in the evaluation and planning of geographic and product expansion initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Analytics, Actuarial Science, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of extensive experience in Healthcare, Financial Analysis, or a related area.
  • Ability to comprehend complex products and their relevant levers to enhance profitability.
  • Exceptional financial skills, including the capability to identify and resolve challenging problems.
  • Proficient in presenting to Senior Leaders on both technical and non-technical aspects of the business.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
