Veterinary Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our team at AmeriVet Services LLC. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the care and well-being of our patients, working closely with our veterinary team to provide exceptional patient care and customer service.
Responsibilities- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with appointments, prepping patients for surgery and minor procedures, and proactively setting up equipment and tools.
- Collect and prepare laboratory samples, such as fecal, urine, and ear cytologies.
- Restrain animals safely and efficiently during examinations and procedures.
- Document changes in patient condition and vital signs, and notify veterinarians or veterinary technicians of any unusual medical or behavioral problems.
- Communicate effectively with clients, staff, and other medical team members.
- Maintain a clean and efficient environment, including kennels and runs, treatment areas, exam rooms, and surgery suite.
- Care and maintain medical equipment, including laboratory machines, surgical packs, anesthesia machines, and other essential tools.
- Perform other duties as assigned by veterinarians, management, and veterinary technicians to ensure the smooth operation of the hospital.
- High School diploma or GED certificate.
- Flexible schedule, including some weekend and holiday shifts.
- Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong communication skills, good judgment, and ability to manage stressful situations.
