Role Overview:
As a Veterinary Technician in our Critical Care Unit, you will play a crucial role in our veterinary team, providing essential support to our veterinarians and ensuring the highest standards of care for our patients.
Compensation: $25-$40 per hour plus a $5/hr shift differential
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians during medical treatments and procedures.
- Closely monitor critically ill or injured animals.
- Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure continuous care and treatment coordination.
- Provide compassionate support to patients and their families.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
- Assist with diagnostic tests including bloodwork and imaging.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Monitor and ensure the functionality of medical equipment.
- Communicate updates and treatment plans to pet owners.
- Respond swiftly to changes in patient conditions and provide emergency interventions as necessary.
Work Schedule:
- Full-Time, 4/10 schedule
- Overnight shifts
- Weekend availability required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in an Emergency or Critical Care setting required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Reliable ability to perform calculations for medication dosages and client invoices.
- Must maintain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days of hire; this requirement is waived for those with a valid CA-RVT license.
