Role Overview:
As a Critical Care Unit (CCU) veterinary technician, you will play a vital role in our veterinary team, providing essential support to our veterinarians to ensure the highest level of care and comfort for our clients' beloved pets.
Compensation: $25-$40 per hour plus a $5/hr shift differential
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians during medical treatments and procedures.
- Closely monitor critically ill or injured patients.
- Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure continuous care and treatment coordination.
- Provide compassionate support to patients and their families.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
- Assist with diagnostic procedures such as blood tests and imaging.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Monitor and manage medical equipment.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding patient updates and treatment plans.
- Respond promptly to changes in patient conditions and provide emergency care as necessary.
Work Schedule:
- Full-Time, 4/10's schedule
- Overnight shifts
- Weekend availability required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in an emergency or critical care setting required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for medication dosages, client invoices, and other relevant calculations.
- Must maintain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP); must obtain within 60 days of hire or transfer into this role; (this requirement is waived if the incumbent holds a valid CA-RVT license).
