Position Overview

This role serves as a vital administrative support specialist, providing confidential assistance to senior management within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary administrative support for the Chief and Deputy Chief of Interpretation.
  • Monitor and manage budgetary allocations, human resources functions, payroll, travel arrangements, and inventory management for a diverse team.
  • Innovate and implement new systems to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration with peers in administrative and business services, maintaining correspondence with relevant administrative teams.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior administrative staff, fostering professional development.
  • Advise management on various administrative processes, including budgeting, human resources, timekeeping, procurement, and asset management.
  • Develop modern tracking systems for financial management, human resources processes, and staff onboarding.
  • Assist in the preparation of recruitment packages and liaise with human resources specialists.
  • Utilize various administrative systems regularly to streamline operations.
  • Support fellow administrative staff with routine tasks in their absence.
  • Maintain records of publications and manage inventory for program supplies.
  • Assist in compiling visitor statistics for reporting purposes.
  • Oversee the management of the park's information email account, ensuring timely responses to feedback and inquiries.

Telework Options: This position is eligible for telework arrangements with supervisor approval.

Uniform Requirements: Compliance with uniform standards is mandatory, and a uniform allowance will be provided.

Employment Conditions

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Appointment is subject to a background investigation.
  • Must meet Selective Service Registration Act requirements.
  • Participation in the Direct Deposit program is mandatory.
  • Completion of a one-year probationary period may be required for new employees.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Relevant experience will be considered, including volunteer work.

Typing Requirement: A typing speed of 40 words per minute with minimal errors is necessary for this position.

Experience Requirements: Candidates must possess specialized experience comparable to the GS-06 level in the Federal service, including advanced administrative functions.

Education: No educational substitution for experience is permitted at this grade level.
