PRIMARY ROLE: As the Assistant Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role within the finance team, assisting the Controller in managing all facets of financial operations. This position encompasses leadership in daily accounting tasks, financial reporting, tax compliance, and initiatives aimed at enhancing processes to bolster our organization's growth and fiscal health. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting directly to the Controller.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Daily Accounting Functions:

  • Support the Controller in directing daily accounting activities, including analysis, reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
  • Review expense and credit card reports to ensure adherence to the company's travel and expense policies.
  • Act as the primary backup for payroll management and processing.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

  • Oversee the organization's revenue recognition process, ensuring precise application of cash receipts.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with the corporate monthly closing timeline.
  • Execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures, collaborating with various departments to resolve unusual transactions or missing documentation.
  • Manage local, state, federal, and international tax filings and business requirements.

Financial Operations Management:

  • Supervise accounts payable, bank reconciliations, cash management, and general ledger upkeep.
  • Guarantee accuracy, consistency, and timeliness in payments, reporting, and reimbursements.
  • Conduct quarterly reconciliations between the General Ledger and Salesforce data.

Process Enhancement and Policy Development:

  • Collaborate with the Controller and Senior Director of Finance to refine accounting processes and procedures, identifying inefficiencies and proposing enhancements.
  • Develop and implement essential financial policies, procedures, and systems to scale accounting operations in line with organizational growth. Create and maintain related documentation.
  • Contribute to the updates and maintenance of the Accounting Manual to ensure alignment with best practices and compliance.

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Guide, coach, and mentor junior accounting personnel, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Support team scalability and development in alignment with organizational growth objectives.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The incumbent may be required to undertake additional duties and responsibilities as circumstances dictate.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; a minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience directly related to the specified duties and responsibilities.
  • Alternatively, a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management or accounting may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or equivalent highly desired.
  • Proficient in managing Accounting Functions.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong mathematical, accounting, and financial process skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Skilled in time management with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Exceptional critical thinking abilities.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: This is a full-time exempt position with benefits. The annual salary will be competitive, commensurate with experience. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is an indoor office setting. This role routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
