Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to serve as the Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at St. John Fisher University. The successful candidate will provide leadership and management for the department's strategic initiatives and operations, and will be responsible for overseeing the department's didactic curriculum and research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management for all of the department's strategic initiatives and operations;
  • Recruit, hire and retain faculty members according to the needs of the program;
  • Develop the department's annual budget request and salary adjustments for faculty and staff;
  • Develop teaching, research and service partnerships with external collaborators;
  • Conduct annual reviews for department faculty and staff;
  • Represent the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences on the Executive Committee;
  • Engage in teaching and scholarship in areas of expertise and interest.
Requirements
  • Candidates from any pharmaceutical science discipline will be considered;
  • Qualified applicants will hold a Ph.D., or other terminal degree;
  • Candidates should have a minimum of six years of academic experience and a record of academic teaching, scholarship, and service which will qualify for the rank of Associate Professor or higher;
  • Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.

  • Possess strong time management and problem solving skills, be creative, innovative and possess the ability to work independently or within a team;
  • Adapt to new and rapidly changing situations and successfully resolve issues from identification through resolution;
  • Effectively work with multiple databases and student platforms;
  • Excel in connecting and building rapport with students and faculty;
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.
Supervision of Employees

The Chair will oversee 8-10 faculty and staff in the department.
