Job Title: Civil Engineer/Architect

Join the Research Foundation CUNY team as a Civil Engineer/Architect and play a vital role in the successful implementation of the multi-year/multi-billion-dollar design and construction program at CUNY's 25 campuses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess existing facilities and programmatic needs to identify infrastructure requirements and develop recommendations for project implementation.
  • Develop detailed scopes of work for architecture and engineering consultant services, including facility needs, alternative pathways, evaluation approaches, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary reviews and conduct reviews of architectural and civil engineering components of consultant proposals, engineering analyses, scopes of work, design reports, and design documents.
  • Update guidelines and procedures for projects in conformance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Prepare civil and environmental standards and specifications for incorporation into designs, preventative maintenance procedures for building systems, and tools for monitoring implementation.
  • Support the Assistant Director of Architecture on filings with the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and Land Preservation.
  • Provide project management reports as required by the Assistant Director and the Director of Engineering.
  • Advise project management teams on available technologies to achieve programmatic and project-specific goals.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the design, analysis, and troubleshooting of building systems in industrial/commercial and residential buildings.
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design and proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Preferred qualifications include a Master of Science or Master of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture, NYS Licensure as a Professional Engineer or Architect, experience in higher education facilities, familiarity with building envelopes, and experience with New York State and/or New York City design and construction projects.
