Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional II to join our team in providing exceptional care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities.

As a Direct Support Professional II, you will work in a dynamic and supportive environment, collaborating with a team to help individuals achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives.

Your primary responsibilities will include providing routine and emergency care, treatment, and training to individuals with intellectual disabilities. This may involve tasks such as grooming, bathing, feeding, observing and reporting individual's conditions and behaviors, providing meaningful interactions, and participating in individualized training and/or active treatment programs.

You will also be responsible for documenting information on the individual's life, such as daily activities, responses to activities, and any unusual incidents.

As a member of our team, you will receive guidance and supervision to ensure your success in this role. You may also have the opportunity to provide training and mentorship to new Direct Support Professionals and/or serve as a shift/team lead.

This position requires the ability to work effectively in a team environment, communicate effectively, and provide individualized care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide routine and emergency care, treatment, and training to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
• Document information on the individual's life, including daily activities, responses to activities, and any unusual incidents.
• Collaborate with a team to help individuals achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives.
• Provide individualized care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
• Participate in individualized training and/or active treatment programs.
• May provide training and mentorship to new Direct Support Professionals and/or serve as a shift/team lead.
Requirements:
• Ability to speak and read English.
• Ability to make decisions and use good judgment when dealing with critical incidents.
• Ability to react quickly and calmly in an emergency situation.
• Ability to demonstrate proper body mechanics, good posture, and proper lifting techniques.
• Knowledge of individual care techniques and of treatment, therapy, and developmental programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively and to train/mentor/coach others.
• Ability to work effectively with others and as a member of a team.
Working Conditions:
• This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to changing situations.
• The position may require working a specific shift schedule or rotating schedule, extended shift, and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy.
• The position may also require driving a state-owned vehicle.
