Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician II to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a Pharmacy Technician II, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of medications to our residents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre-package and label unit-dose and multiple dose medication orders
  • Perform medication room inspections to ensure compliance with state regulations
  • Assist pharmacists in preparing non-routine medication orders for residents
  • Fulfill medication carts and maintain required medication stock for after-hours dispensing
  • Perform courier and drug delivery duties as needed
  • Conduct environmental inspections to ensure a safe and clean pharmacy environment
  • Order and receive pharmaceuticals, reconcile and stock drug shipments, and report discrepancies to pharmacists and accounting staff
  • Coordinate and oversee clerical and technical support work, including inventory management and record-keeping
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of medical and pharmacy nomenclatures, including trade names of pharmaceuticals and standard abbreviations used in the pharmacy
  • Ability to prepare prescriptions, inventory supplies, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to operate pharmaceutical equipment, standard office equipment, computers, and software for pharmacy applications
Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The successful candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills.
