About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Catering Captain to join our team at NOVA Parks. As a Catering Captain, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of weddings and high-end social catered events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Event Execution: Ensure the proper execution of catering proposals for weddings and high-end social catered events.
  • On-Site Supervision: Provide on-site event supervision of the facility and catering staff during catered events.
  • Pre-Event Meetings: Participate in pre-event meetings with the facility manager to review catering proposals, floorplans, and timelines.
  • Facility Cleanliness: Ensure facility cleanliness prior to and during the event.
  • Guest Services: Meet and greet guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Event Coordination: Coordinate with the day of point-of-contact on all aspects of the event.
  • Catering Details: Coordinate catering details with kitchen and service staff.
  • Setup and Breakdown: Direct and participate in the set-up and breakdown of seating tables and chairs, client provided decor, and food and bar services.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure proper health code compliance and sanitation standards throughout the event.
  • Staff Management: Train, supervise, and direct catering bartenders, servers, and dishwashers.
  • Staff Guidance: Provide guidance and motivation to catering service staff.
  • Staff Scheduling: Ensure catering service staff arrives at assigned times.
  • Staff Uniforms: Ensure staff arrives in proper uniforms and adheres to grooming and hygiene standards.
  • Communication: Maintain constant communication with kitchen staff, servers, and bartenders.
  • Timeline Management: Adhere to set timelines and communicate any changes to the day of point of contact, kitchen staff, and service staff.
  • Food Quality: Examine quality of food prior to distributing to event guests.
  • Alcohol Service: Ability to handle alcoholic beverages.
  • Service Delivery: Ensure proper delivery and bussing of food and beverages items in a timely manner.
  • Bar Service: Monitor bar service to ensure adherence to state alcohol laws.
  • Decision Making: Ability to provide quick decision making.
  • Event Reporting: Write post-event reports detailing event execution for management review.
  • Event Closure: Ensure proper guests departure.
  • Post-Event Breakdown: Ensure proper post-event breakdown and clean-up in a timely manner.
  • Emergency Procedures: Knowledge of emergency response procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Age Requirement: Must be age 21 or over.
  • Catering Experience: Minimum 2 years catering banquet service and supervision.
  • Food and Beverage Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of food and beverage service.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate staff on a daily basis and quick decision making skills.
  • Physical Demands: Strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks, including ability to lift 50lbs, stooping, and bending.
  • Communication Skills: Exhibit good communication and customer service skills.
  • Availability: Availability to work a variable work schedule, which may include early and late hours, and weekends and holidays.
  • Driver's License: Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain a driver's license with a safe driving record.
  • ServSafe and TIPS Training: Possession or ability to obtain ServSafe and TIPS training.
