Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is tasked with executing maintenance duties to construct, repair, and sustain all equipment in optimal working order efficiently and accurately, while minimizing associated costs to achieve plant objectives. This role requires a multi-skilled individual capable of participating in maintenance tasks across various disciplines. The position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute projects with minimal supervision, demonstrating a proactive approach to reducing equipment downtime and production losses.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems. Disassemble and inspect devices to replace defective components.
- Set up and operate workshop machinery, including drill presses, grinders, band saws, and welding equipment. Utilize hand and pneumatic tools for part modifications and repairs.
- Install or repair electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as required.
- Enhance the reliability and operational uptime of all manufacturing and facility equipment, adopting a preventive maintenance mindset.
- Operate forklifts and aerial lift platforms as necessary.
- Research and procure supplies, parts, and tools essential for efficient task completion.
- Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of parts through effective use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Contribute to the upkeep and revision of necessary records, maintenance logs, manuals, and technical documents.
- Support the company’s vision, mission, and guiding principles.
- Adhere to relevant Safety, Health, and Environmental regulations while performing job functions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the department.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Skills Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Basic computer skills are essential, including proficiency in MS Office, Windows, and CMMS.
- Ability to safely operate a variety of tools, including hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, including gearboxes, motors, air compressors, and troubleshooting of AC and DC drives.
- Ability to interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics for effective planning and troubleshooting.
- Proficient in reading, understanding, and communicating written and verbal instructions in English; capable of comprehending safety protocols and operational manuals.
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to conduct research online.
- Ability to implement and uphold company guidelines and management directives.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks with strong organizational skills and self-motivation.
- Results-driven with mathematical skills for basic calculations and logical problem-solving.
- Manual dexterity to operate various hand tools and equipment safely.
- Significant experience in industrial electrical systems, including PLC troubleshooting, AC and DC drives, and working with three-phase motors.
- Experience in plastics processing is advantageous.
Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or a related field, or a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent.
Certifications:
- Specific craft certifications or licenses are a plus.
- Technical education is preferred.
