We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Hotel Operations Director to join our team at Highgate Hotels. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for driving hotel profitability through revenue generation, cost control, and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct daily tours of operating departments to ensure optimal performance and make adjustments as needed.
- Lead weekly staff meetings, including training sessions, to develop employees and maintain hotel standards.
- Meet financial review dates and corporate-directed programs in a timely manner.
- Hold monthly financial reviews with department managers and supervisors to ensure budgeted productivity levels and adherence to Highgate Hotel standards.
- Develop managers for future advancement through competency training and corporate-sponsored programs.
- Collaborate with the Director of Sales to conduct daily HHBR meetings and drive hotel sales efforts.
- Participate in M.O.D. coverage as scheduled and maintain direct contact with management trainees.
- Ensure adherence to all Highgate Hotel policies and procedures and train new managers to ensure compliance.
- Oversee and assist in the hotel budget process as required.
- Ensure training in service standards is taking place in each department.
- Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment that focuses on the guest.
- Inspect rooms regularly with the Housekeeping Manager and Property Engineer.
- Ensure complete processing of invoices daily using the A/P process.
- Ensure all appropriate information for financial documents is received by the Corporate Office monthly.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the physical property through inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
- Ensure employees are attentive, friendly, courteous, and efficient in their interactions with guests.
- Forecast monthly the hotel's financial position.
- Prepare and conduct all management interviews and follow hiring procedures according to Highgate Hotel S.O.P.'s.
- Interview all prospective final candidates for any vacant management position.
- Perform all Executive Committee members performance appraisals according to Highgate Hotel S.O.P.'s.
- Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline all management personnel according to Highgate Hotel S.O.P.'s.
- Perform any other duties as requested by the Vice President or Regional Director of Operations.
- Ensure all employees receive fair and equitable treatment according to Highgate Hotel S.O.P.'s.
- Meet clients on the property to assist in the sales effort.
- Be in the public areas during peak times, greeting guests and offering assistance as needed.
- Ensure procedures for handling the hotel safe are followed.
- Ensure monthly credit meetings are conducted and take an active role in hotel credit and collection policies.
- Complete required corporate training modules.
- Ensure all scheduled meetings take place on the property.
- At least 6 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field.
- Experience in Lifestyle hotels.
- Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
- Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
- Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations.
- Must be effective in handling problems.
- Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
