Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage a team of kitchen staff, ensuring excellent service and quality standards are met.
- Oversee the preparation of a variety of menu items, including meats, seafood, poultry, and vegetables, using a range of kitchen equipment.
- Supervise shifts, effectively communicating with other managers, kitchen staff, and front-of-house team members to ensure seamless service.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training of new kitchen staff.
- Conduct regular performance feedback and coaching to ensure team members are meeting expectations.
- Ensure all menu items and kitchen procedures adhere to company standards and expectations.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels, rotate products, and ensure all kitchen equipment is clean and well-maintained.
- Collaborate with the kitchen manager to plan menus, manage inventory, and control labor costs.
- Support event chefs and crew members with event menu specifications and execution.
- Develop and maintain a clean and sanitary workstation area, adhering to all health, sanitation, and safety regulations.
- Monitor and maintain the quality of items from various vendors, reporting any issues to the vendor and management team.
- Efficiently manage and communicate outstanding needs related to food storage, labeling, and inventory levels.
- Minimize waste, over inventory, and shrinkage, while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, with a culinary degree or equivalent preferred.
- At least 4 years of experience as a Sous Chef in a food service operation with sales in excess of $4M, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Must possess a Servsafe and/or San Diego County Food Handlers Manager Card.
- Occasional travel to events and other bistro locations.
We offer a competitive salary range of $23.00/hr - $27.00/hr, as well as comprehensive health insurance, 401K, and bonuses for eligible team members.
