Job Title: Manufacturing Test Technician (AOI/AXI)

Overview:

The Manufacturing Test Technician is responsible for overseeing AOI/AXI operations, ensuring the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of testing equipment and PCBs. This role provides essential support to engineers and production staff through equipment training, data collection, and system assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute all AOI/5DX/AXI tasks, including product programming and scanning.
  • Assess AOI/5DX/AXI inspections for precise and consistent identification of component placement and solder joint issues.
  • Collaborate closely with processing and engineering teams to enhance visual defect yields and address processing challenges.
  • Troubleshoot program-related issues, including support for off-shift machine operations.
  • Oversee the complete AOI/5DX/AXI operational and line support activities.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot test handlers for AOI, AXI, and 5DX machines as required to support production.
  • Assist in conducting various studies aimed at quality enhancement, program optimization, and cycle time improvement for AOI/AXI/5DX operations.
  • Develop and refine AOI/AXI/5DX NPI and sustaining programs to achieve acceptable false call rates.
  • Support production line transitions and tester setups, including installing new fixtures and loading appropriate test programs.
  • Assist engineers with data collection and evaluations.
  • Provide training and guidance to production operators on equipment usage and safety protocols.
  • Communicate defects to relevant personnel effectively.
  • Inspect populated PCBs for component misplacement and solder defects according to IPC-A-610 standards using a microscope.
  • Accountable for daily yield, efficiency, and effectiveness reporting.
  • Engage in improvement initiatives and actively contribute to enhancing the work environment (5S).
  • Perform scheduled preventative and emergency repairs on production equipment.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance.
  • Support test operations and preventive maintenance activities for testers.
  • Diagnose technical issues, replace or repair parts, and conduct necessary adjustments.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the operation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of test equipment.
  • Completion of an Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred experience with AOI, AXI, 5DX, Flying Probe, and programming machines.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and electronic schematics and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols for equipment repair and troubleshooting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create clear instructions.
  • Analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Proficiency in basic software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Competent in job knowledge and skills necessary for assigned tasks.
  • Quick learner with the ability to apply new requirements with minimal supervision.
  • Consistently meets deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Collaborative team player, sharing information openly and proactively.
