MRI Technologist, Outpatient, PRN

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.
Responsibilities- Review physician orders for accuracy and completeness, ensuring that all necessary information is present for MRI protocols.
- Screen patients for MRI appropriateness and identify any contraindications, such as implants or metallic devices, that may prohibit or modify the exam.
- Discuss findings with physicists and radiologists as needed, and consult with radiologists to determine appropriate sequences and parameters for modified MRI protocols.
- Document changes and updates in the electronic health record, ensuring accurate and timely completion of patient records.
- Ensure that images and records are properly completed with patient identification data and appropriate labeling.
- Administer intravenous injections of contrast material as needed, observing patients for adverse reactions.
- Perform MRI procedures, ensuring that patients meet safety requirements and follow established protocols.
- Assist patients in dressing for exams and attend to their physical well-being during transportation and positioning.
- Communicate with patients and their families regarding tests to be performed, evaluating their ability to tolerate the exam.
- Perform QC testing and report problems with MRI systems and workstations to the service engineer and imaging leadership.
- Maintain various data sets, including baseline scans, and perform data calculations, scoring, and statistical analyses according to established QC standards.
- Participate in accreditation imaging requirements and perform post-processing on MRI systems and remote workstations.
- Respond to inquiries and communicate shift hand-offs regarding workflow issues and pending exams with oncoming staff.
- Engage in equitable distribution of departmental workloads and actively participate in providing orientation and training for new hires and students.
- Collaborate with other service lines to ensure effective communication and care delivery.
- Prioritize exams to ensure smooth workflow, minimize wait times, and address stat and urgent requests.
- Adhere to hospital policies, regulatory compliance, and departmental goals, maintaining patient confidentiality and ensuring the security of workstations and work areas.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in MRI or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
- Two years of MRI experience preferred.
