About the Role

Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a highly skilled Senior Vulnerability Researcher to join our team. As a key member of our cybersecurity team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing cutting-edge approaches to analyzing executable code, understanding systemic vulnerabilities in software systems, and influencing the software security and vulnerability disclosure ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop State-of-the-Art Approaches: Design and implement innovative methods for analyzing executable code, identifying vulnerabilities, and developing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Lead Vulnerability Research: Conduct in-depth research on software vulnerabilities, identify trends, and develop predictive models to inform cybersecurity strategies.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with software developers, security researchers, and other stakeholders to ensure the development of secure software systems.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Trends: Continuously monitor and analyze emerging threats, technologies, and best practices in software security.
  • Communicate Complex Ideas: Effectively communicate research findings, technical approaches, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in vulnerability research, software security, or a related field.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of software security, vulnerability analysis, and mitigation strategies; excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
