Key Responsibilities- Administer prescribed medication and treatment to residents in a safe and timely manner, adhering to established guidelines and protocols.
- Document medication administration and resident responses accurately and thoroughly.
- Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room, ensuring the security and integrity of controlled substances.
- Order and manage medication and supplies, adhering to facility and pharmacy guidelines.
- Prepare medications for residents leaving the facility or arranging for delivery from the pharmacy.
- Process physician orders and transcribe orders to the Medication Administration Record.
- Directly accountable for the security of controlled substances and the accuracy of record keeping.
- Practice and maintain appropriate infection control techniques when preparing/administering medications.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents and staff in the English language.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. without mechanical assistance.
- Ability to visually observe residents and respond to emergencies.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Ability to manipulate equipment and recognize/respond to emergencies.
- Must pass the Medication Technician training provided by DePaul within 90 days of Medication Skills Checklist.
- Must possess a working knowledge of resident care, particularly with the geriatric and adult special care needs population.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have the required references and criminal record check.
- Must be in good standing with the Healthcare Personnel Registry.
- Must have the required annual Tuberculosis (TB) testing and Annual Health Assessment in accordance with New York State Regulations.
