Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medication Technician to join our team at DePaul Senior Living Community. As a Medication Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and timely administration of prescribed medication to our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer prescribed medication and treatment to residents in a safe and timely manner, adhering to established guidelines and protocols.
  • Document medication administration and resident responses accurately and thoroughly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room, ensuring the security and integrity of controlled substances.
  • Order and manage medication and supplies, adhering to facility and pharmacy guidelines.
  • Prepare medications for residents leaving the facility or arranging for delivery from the pharmacy.
  • Process physician orders and transcribe orders to the Medication Administration Record.
  • Directly accountable for the security of controlled substances and the accuracy of record keeping.
  • Practice and maintain appropriate infection control techniques when preparing/administering medications.
Requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and staff in the English language.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. without mechanical assistance.
  • Ability to visually observe residents and respond to emergencies.
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to manipulate equipment and recognize/respond to emergencies.
Qualifications
  • Must pass the Medication Technician training provided by DePaul within 90 days of Medication Skills Checklist.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of resident care, particularly with the geriatric and adult special care needs population.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have the required references and criminal record check.
  • Must be in good standing with the Healthcare Personnel Registry.
  • Must have the required annual Tuberculosis (TB) testing and Annual Health Assessment in accordance with New York State Regulations.
