Opportunity Overview

WSP is embarking on a search for a Junior Mechanical Engineering Consultant to join our dynamic team.

Engage in projects with our Property and Buildings Division and contribute to a flourishing organization dedicated to fulfilling client objectives and addressing their challenges.


Your Role

Support technical personnel, engineers, and project leads in the design, development, construction, testing, and evaluation of mechanical systems across various infrastructure and construction projects in both public and private sectors.

Responsibilities may encompass assisting with research, design, concept development, installation, operation, maintenance, and seamless integration of automatic temperature control, air distribution, hydronic, and plumbing systems.

Produce precise and clear reports and documentation regarding installation, construction, and operational specifications.

Ensure that all tasks are executed with a quality level that meets or surpasses industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.


Your Impact


With minimal oversight, assist in gathering, compiling, and analyzing data from work sites, surveys, blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and other matrices for project development and construction.


Conduct fundamental mechanical engineering tasks, including research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, and mechanical systems to verify compliance with applicable standards and permits.


Assist in developing technologies, monitoring devices, modeling techniques, design requirements, load calculations, and operational strategies to ensure proper installation and functioning of systems as per specifications.


Provide technical assistance on various engineering and construction matters related to automatic temperature control systems, air distribution, hydronic systems, and plumbing systems.


Draft technical reports summarizing research findings and specifications, ensuring comprehensive and accurate documentation using sketches, calculations, and software.


Collaborate with technical staff and project managers to identify and assess risks, contributing to design concepts and improvement activities.


Collaboration and Coordination


Work alongside cross-functional teams to execute project tasks effectively.


Assist in preparing work plans and coordinating field/site activities.


Complete training on assigned responsibilities.


Collaborate with engineers and planners on projects involving building and infrastructure authorities.


Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.


Perform additional duties as required by business needs.


Who You Are

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience post-education.
- Familiarity with mechanical engineering principles and practices.
- Knowledge of building and infrastructure planning and construction management.
- Strong understanding of mechanical system laws, codes, and compliance practices.
- Analytical mindset with sound judgment in evaluating situations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic proficiency in technical writing and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, CADD).

Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer in Training Certification.
- Prior design experience.
- Experience with Revit.
- Active participation in local professional organizations.
