Job Overview

The Mechanical Project Engineer plays a crucial role in addressing various challenges while fostering strong interpersonal relationships with consultants and contractors. This position collaborates closely with Project Managers to ensure the highest standards of quality and timely project completion. The Mechanical Project Engineer serves as a vital resource for projects, mechanical codes, and conceptual mechanical designs, adapting to evolving standards and processes as new products are introduced.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning of mechanical systems, including process diagrams and Bill of Materials (BOM), for diverse project types.
  • Review and manage mechanical schematics for gas facilities in collaboration with professional consultants.
  • Facilitate mechanical subsystem Hazard and Operability Studies (Hazops) and design evaluations.
  • Assist the project management team in meeting established deadlines.
  • Engage with utility companies (Gas, water, drainage, etc.) as necessary.
  • Manage and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) from contractors.
  • Collaborate with the Commissioning Manager for mechanical subsystems during installation phases.
  • Design conceptual schematics tailored to site requirements for consultants.
  • Guide professional consultants on company standards for mechanical systems, including tagging systems and document control.
  • Support Mechanical Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) processes.
  • Assist at the departmental level with commercial and contract administration for contractors and consultants as required.
  • Contribute to the procurement of mechanical systems, including product selection and validation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a project engineer is required, with a preference for 4 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential.
  • Familiarity with plumbing designs and codes related to water and gas is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills with clients and stakeholders are necessary.
  • Willingness to travel for site support (less than 25% of the time).
  • Possession of a state Professional Engineer (PE) license is advantageous.
  • Experience in the oil and gas, petrochemical, or pressurized industrial gas sectors is preferred.
