Clinical Faculty Position in Cardiology

Job Summary

The Medical College of Georgia, Division of Cardiology is actively seeking a faculty member at various academic ranks including Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. This role will focus on enhancing the Advanced Heart Failure service, which is a vital and expanding academic program dedicated to the evaluation and management of patients suffering from advanced heart failure (HF). The faculty member will also contribute to the newly established Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) program.

As part of the responsibilities, the faculty member will play a key role in the development of the MCS program and the anticipated initiation of a cardiac transplant program in the near future. The Advanced HF Program encompasses a Shock and ECMO Team, utilizing a range of devices for both temporary and durable mechanical support, including Impella devices, IABP, ECMO, and Heart Mate 3.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in outpatient heart failure clinical practice at various locations.
  • Provide support to the Inpatient CVICU Service and Inpatient Heart Failure Consult Service.
  • Participate in the echo lab reading pool as per training and interests.
  • Conduct and interpret various procedures, including right heart catheterizations and nuclear stress tests.
  • Share night and weekend CVICU and VAD call coverage responsibilities.
  • Achieve work RVUs at or above the 65th percentile for non-invasive cardiologists.
  • Contribute to the educational activities of the Division, supporting medical students, residents, and Cardiology fellows.
  • Participate in division decision-making and marketing activities.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including clinical/translational research and publication of academic works.
Required Qualifications

MD/DO or equivalent with Board eligibility/certification and HF fellowship training. Candidates at different ranks will have varying levels of experience:
  • Assistant Professor: Early career faculty member with appropriate postgraduate training.
  • Associate Professor: Mid-career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor.
  • Professor: Senior faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor.
Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time position with a fiscal year commitment. Salary and compensation will be commensurate with education, experience, and achievements, subject to funding availability.
