Position Summary
The Medical College of Georgia, within the Division of Cardiology, is actively seeking a qualified faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. This role is integral to the Advanced Heart Failure service, a dynamic academic program dedicated to the evaluation and management of patients suffering from advanced heart failure (HF), as well as our newly established Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) program.
The selected faculty member will play a crucial role in expanding the MCS program and will contribute to the establishment of a new cardiac transplant program in the near future. Our Advanced HF Program encompasses a Shock and ECMO Team, along with various devices for both temporary and durable mechanical support, including Impella devices, IABP, ECMO, and Heart Mate 3.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in outpatient heart failure clinical practice at various locations, including the downtown practice site.
- Provide support to the Inpatient CVICU Service and Inpatient Heart Failure Consult Service, sharing responsibilities with colleagues.
- Participate in the echo lab reading pool based on interests and training.
- Conduct and interpret various procedures, such as right heart catheterizations and nuclear stress tests, as per training and interests.
- Participate in night and weekend CVICU and VAD call coverage as required.
- Achieve work RVUs at or above the 65th percentile for non-invasive cardiologists, as reported by the UHC Faculty Practice Solution Center.
- Contribute to the educational activities of the Division, supporting medical students, residents, and Cardiology fellows.
- Engage in division decision-making and attend faculty meetings regularly.
- Participate in scholarly activities, including clinical/translational research and publication of academic works.
MD/DO or equivalent with Board eligibility/certification and HF fellowship training.
Assistant Professor: Early career faculty member with relevant postgraduate training.
Associate Professor: Mid-career faculty member with a minimum of five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or equivalent experience.
Professor: Senior faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable qualifications.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time position with a fiscal year commitment. Salary and compensation will be commensurate with education, experience, and achievements, subject to funding availability. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, retirement plans, and tuition waiver options.
