Clinical Cardiologist Faculty Position
Job Summary
The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is in search of a qualified faculty member to fill an open rank position in Cardiology. This role encompasses both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, including participation in night and weekend call coverage. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to engage in echocardiography and various non-invasive imaging techniques, as well as collaborate with house staff, fellows, and physician extenders. Educational and clinical research opportunities will be available based on the candidate's experience and expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish a thriving outpatient clinical practice with an initial commitment of three (3) half-day clinics per week at designated practice sites.
- Contribute to inpatient CCU, Ward, and Consult Services, including ECG interpretation.
- Engage in the Echo Lab, CT, Nuclear, and cardiac MRI reading schedules, aligned with your training and interests.
- Participate in structural echocardiographic imaging training to support procedures such as TAVR, MitraClip, and Watchman.
- Share night and weekend call responsibilities across all hospitals and inpatient cardiology services.
- Achieve work RVUs at or above the 65th percentile for non-invasive cardiologists, as reported by relevant benchmarks.
- Involve in the educational activities of the Division, supporting medical students, residents, and Cardiology fellows.
- Actively engage in faculty meetings and outreach initiatives, which may include brief visits to referring physicians and hospitals.
- Participate in scholarly activities, including clinical/translational research, publication of case reports, and review articles.
- This list is not exhaustive and may be adjusted at the discretion of the Division Chief.
Qualifications
MD, Board certified or eligible, with completion of a cardiology fellowship.
Assistant Professor: Early career faculty member with relevant postgraduate training.
Associate Professor: Mid-career faculty member with a minimum of five years at the Assistant Professor level or equivalent experience.
Professor: Senior faculty member with at least five years at the Associate Professor level or equivalent experience.
All faculty employment qualifications must align with the standards set by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and include:
- Demonstrated teaching ability;
- Evidence of scholarly activity and competence in assigned duties;
- Successful experience, which may be waived for new entrants into academia who meet other requirements;
- Desirable personal qualities assessed through interviews and recommendations.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, year-round position with a fiscal year commitment.
Compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements, subject to funding availability.

Faculty rank and salary will be determined at the time of hire, considering various factors such as experience, education, and specialty.
Advancement through faculty ranks is based on the annual Promotion and Tenure process, typically occurring in five-year increments.
