Position Overview
The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to join our Cardiology division. The successful candidate will engage in both inpatient and outpatient care, including participation in night and weekend on-call duties. There are opportunities to engage in echocardiography and various non-invasive imaging modalities based on individual interests and expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish a thriving outpatient clinical practice with an initial commitment of three (3) half-day clinics weekly at the primary practice site and additional satellite locations.
- Contribute to the Inpatient CCU, Ward, and Consult Services, including ECG interpretation.
- Engage in the Echo Lab, CT, Nuclear, and cardiac MRI reading schedules according to your training and interests. On-call responsibilities for evenings and weekends will be shared among cardiology imaging faculty.
- Assist in structural echocardiographic imaging training to support TAVR, MitraClip, and Watchman procedures.
- Participate in night and weekend call coverage across all hospitals and inpatient cardiology services as necessary.
- Achieve work RVUs at or above the 65th percentile for non-invasive cardiologists as reported by the UHC Faculty Practice Solution Center, adjusted for clinical FTE.
- Support the educational mission of the Division by teaching Phase I, II, and III medical students, residents from the Department of Medicine and other departments, and Cardiology fellows during their consult rotations.
- Actively engage in faculty meetings and outreach initiatives, which may involve brief visits to connect with referring physicians and healthcare facilities.
- Participate in scholarly activities, including clinical/translational research in your area of interest, publication of case studies, and review articles. Foster a culture of research among trainees and junior faculty.
- This list is not exhaustive and may evolve based on the Division Chief's discretion.
Qualifications
MD, Board certified or Board eligible, with completion of a cardiology fellowship.
Assistant Professor - Early career faculty member with relevant postgraduate training.
Associate Professor - Mid-career faculty member with a minimum of five years at the Assistant Professor level or equivalent experience.
Professor - Senior faculty member with at least five years at the Associate Professor level or equivalent experience.
All faculty employment qualifications must align with the requirements set forth by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC):
- Demonstrated teaching ability;
- Evidence of scholarly activity and competence in assigned duties;
- Successful experience, which may be waived for new entrants into academia meeting all other criteria;
- Desirable personal attributes assessed through interviews, biographical data, and recommendations.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a fiscal year position requiring year-round commitment.
The full-time equivalent (FTE) for this role is 1.0, classified as full-time.
Compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and accomplishments, subject to funding availability.
Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, 13 paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, generous retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness options, and more.
Full-time employees with over six months of service may be eligible for the Tuition Assistance Program.
Rank and salary are determined at hire based on various factors, including experience, education, credentials, specialty, and market data.
