POSITION SUMMARY:
This role is designed for an expert in the field, providing specialized guidance and support in addressing intricate laboratory-related technical challenges within the domains of chemistry, engineering, and applied industrial sciences pertinent to operational issues at Aramco Services Company.
ROLE SCOPE:
The incumbent will independently execute significant investigative projects with minimal oversight. These projects will be both comprehensive and innovative. The position is situated within laboratory units that deliver specialized services, including Advanced Instruments, Drilling and Production Services, and Core Services. Reporting typically occurs to a unit supervisor, although direct reporting to the Team Leader may also be applicable.
The successful candidate will leverage their expertise to conceptualize and design research projects, employing computer tools to explore alternative production methodologies and new product development. This analysis will encompass capital and operational cost assessments, enabling informed decisions regarding R&D initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, and licensing evaluations. Support may be provided by junior scientists.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Offer specialized consultation and assistance in technical areas such as industrial chemistry, microbiology, and engineering to enhance the company's exploration and production processes.
- Conduct original research to address technical challenges that extend beyond existing literature.
- Stay abreast of significant advancements in the specialization field, applying this knowledge to high-level investigative assignments.
- Prepare detailed professional reports on research findings and review relevant patents.
- Maintain and enhance knowledge of cutting-edge laboratory instrumentation.
- Ensure a safe and accident-free laboratory environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Lead collaborative research initiatives with other R&D sectors within the company to foster intellectual property development and business growth. Publish findings in reputable journals and present at conferences.
- Serve as a project leader or contribute to major investigative projects as assigned.
Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics relevant to the area of expertise; a PhD is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of nine years of experience in a relevant industrial, technological, or laboratory setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, at a level necessary for job performance.
- Comfortable working independently or as part of a project team, with a strong work ethic and adherence to company policies and standards.
PROFESSIONAL INTERACTIONS:
- Engage with personnel at all levels within Aramco Services Company and its subsidiaries regarding specific technical issues.
- Collaborate with industry and academic partners through joint projects and consortia.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Utilize standard office equipment, including computers and communication devices.
- Read and interpret various materials, including technical documents and reports.
- Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management within a Windows environment.
