Job Description

Eastern Oregon University seeks a highly skilled and experienced Vice President for Finance and Administration to join its leadership team. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and direction for the university's financial and administrative functions, ensuring the effective management of resources and the achievement of the institution's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement financial and administrative policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Provide strategic guidance and oversight to the university's financial and administrative functions, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the university's capital budget and capital construction projects.
  • Oversee the management of the university's facilities and planning, information technology, risk management, human resources, and financial aid units.
  • Collaborate with the president and cabinet colleagues to develop and implement financial and administrative policies and procedures that support the university's mission and goals.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the university's finance and administrative staff, including the development of their skills and abilities.
Requirements
  • A master's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of progressively more responsible experience in finance-based positions, including experience in budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Experience in managing and supervising finance and administrative staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply financial and administrative policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • An experienced higher education leader, with knowledge of accounting for and use of unrestricted and restricted funds from multiple sources with multiple restrictions.
  • A working manager, able to see the big picture and act strategically, but also willing to competently pitch in and work alongside staff.
  • A leader in managing in the dynamic higher education environment, active in assessing current practices and data-driven in making changes.
  • Proactive in providing guidance and support to the president and cabinet colleagues as they make financial decisions to further the mission of EOU.
  • Committed to transparent communication with the president and cabinet colleagues, EOU faculty and staff, the Board of Trustees, and state agencies and leaders, about finance, budget, and administration issues.
