About the Role:

The Senior Community Engagement Specialist is an integral part of the Aging Services Program, tasked with creating opportunities for older adults to connect, share meals, foster community, and participate in enriching learning and social activities. This role involves providing information and referral services, advocating for nutritional needs, and assisting with system navigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate group meal services for participants.
  • Collaborate with food service providers to manage daily meal deliveries while ensuring adherence to nutritional standards.
  • Identify and schedule presenters for monthly classes and workshops tailored to older adults.
  • Offer culturally relevant referrals, information, and assistance to older adults both in-person and via phone.
  • Screen and arrange transportation services for seniors residing in the local area.
  • Maintain accurate data tracking in relevant databases for state and local agencies.
  • Supervise and coordinate volunteers to support program delivery.
  • Ensure confidentiality of participant files in compliance with agency, partner, and funder requirements.
  • Timely entry of participant data and progress notes using various agency and external databases.
  • Attend mandatory program and organizational meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the program supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, with strong cultural competence.
  • High School Diploma or GED required, with a minimum of one year of relevant experience.
  • An Associate degree in public service, social work, education, or human development may substitute for field experience.
  • Experience addressing a wide range of issues affecting older adults.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, take initiative, and follow through.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in both team settings and independently; adaptable to various dynamics in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license, access to a vehicle, and ability to obtain required automobile insurance.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and Oregon Criminal History & Abuse Record Data System review.

Work Environment:

In-office (70% of the time) and remote/community (30% of the time) work, including client appointments, community partner meetings, and training sessions. Remote work may be permitted for administrative tasks, subject to performance evaluation.
