Compensation Overview

$102,400.00-$140,700.00 Annually

This salary range represents the expected compensation for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on relevant experience, skills, and educational background, among other factors. Additionally, this role is eligible for an incentive bonus.

Oversee the North American customer credit and collections operations, establishing operational benchmarks for risk evaluation, credit authorization, and customer portfolio analysis in a rapidly evolving market. Communicate effectively with all organizational levels, including senior management and external stakeholders. Employ persuasive negotiation techniques. Forge strategic alliances aimed at optimizing sales and nurturing customer relationships while managing credit exposure. Provide credit insights and updates to Johns Manville's business units, including international branches when necessary. Uphold credit protocols to ensure operational uniformity, compliance with internal controls, and mitigation of customer risk; regularly communicate current policies and procedures to global stakeholders. Set a proactive leadership tone in fostering and maintaining customer relationships. Exhibit proficiency in financial statement analysis and external research. Possess market acumen crucial for early detection of risks and informed customer product delivery decisions. Act as a subject matter expert in customer bankruptcy counterclaims and defense strategies. Lead a credit team of four, while overseeing related functions in Europe. Actively engage in growth strategies, due diligence, and business integrations.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Manage a select credit portfolio of Johns Manville customers and Precious Metal vendors.
  • Oversee staffing, priority setting, performance evaluations, compensation discussions, and terminations.
  • Support employee development through training, mentoring, and coaching with an emphasis on succession planning.
  • Represent Johns Manville at credit industry meetings and exhibitions.
  • Analyze monthly metrics and customer status reports for the CFO and business leaders.
  • Authorize credit based on staff recommendations, credit applications, financial data, and credit references while considering market risks.
  • Approve customer delivery holds/orders releases as necessary after consulting with customer service.
  • Establish methodologies and models for analyzing the credit portfolio based on industry standards.
  • Collaborate with senior management and business units to assess and approve deviations from standard terms; analyze and recommend sales terms for both new and existing customers.
  • Manage contracts for various credit tools, trade associations, and local credit insurance.
  • Approve revised credit terms for the settlement of overdue accounts.
  • Develop and disseminate customer risk assessment tools.
  • Engage with key customers to strengthen relationships, address credit issues, and enhance customer service.
  • Advise on international business matters, including credit risk, export documentation, country regulations, letters of credit, terms, credit insurance, and foreign exchange.
  • Recommend reserve amounts and review the accounting status of bad debts.
  • Engage collection agencies when necessary.
  • Provide expertise related to credit for SAP enhancements.
  • Periodically assess Lock Box efficiencies for potential cost savings or cash application improvements.
  • Annually review, update, and publish the Global Credit Policy.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including a role as a Credit Manager.
  • NACM Credit Designation preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state laws governing liens, bonds, bankruptcy, and the Uniform Commercial Code.
  • Able to utilize innovative tools to extend credit to marginal accounts: guarantees, joint-checks, and letters of credit.
  • Demonstrated success in managing and developing a credit team for at least five years.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective leadership skills, including delegation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the manufacturing sector as it relates to credit.
  • Focus on credit metrics and benchmarking.
  • Commitment to process improvement.
  • Moderate travel required (days per year).
  • Work environment typical of an office setting.
