Job Overview

Position Summary

As a Per Diem Respiratory Therapist, you will play a crucial role in the clinical assessment of patients and the provision of respiratory care services. Your contributions will be vital in promoting the significance and expertise of registered respiratory therapists within the healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Support: Deliver respiratory assistance to patients on ventilators, including adults, pediatrics, and neonates. You will monitor and evaluate patient conditions, applying clinical judgment to ensure appropriate therapeutic interventions are executed.
  2. Implementation of Procedures: Execute respiratory care protocols while assessing and recommending necessary therapies. This includes performing patient evaluations, administering medical gases, and providing various therapeutic interventions such as chest physiotherapy and pulmonary rehabilitation.
  3. Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely records of patient treatments in electronic health systems, ensuring comprehensive details are captured for ongoing care.
  4. Pulmonary Function Testing: Conduct necessary evaluations, including arterial blood gas analysis and spirometry, ensuring accurate execution of tests using established techniques.
  5. Equipment Management: Ensure the safe administration of medical gases and maintain equipment readiness. You will also assist in inventory management and perform pre-use checks of respiratory devices.
  6. Training and Education: Provide instruction to respiratory and nursing students, as well as medical staff and patients, ensuring that all educational interactions are documented appropriately.
  7. Compliance: Uphold all compliance standards related to the role and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must possess an Associate's degree from an accredited Respiratory Care Program and hold a valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the state. A minimum of one year of relevant experience is required, with a Bachelor's degree preferred. You should also maintain credentials from the National Board for Respiratory Care.

Working Conditions:

This role involves significant manual dexterity and may require physical effort, including the ability to lift up to 35 lbs. You may encounter various environmental factors associated with patient care.
