Role Overview and Key Responsibilities:

The Patient Registration Clerks play a vital role in various essential tasks, including gathering insurance details, clarifying hospital documentation and financial options, and managing discharge processes.

This role encompasses scheduling coordination, referral management, patient registration, prior authorization, and insurance verification.

Responsibilities include answering phone calls, taking messages, and interacting courteously with other emergency department staff, physicians, patients, and their families. The clerks will also file and post all diagnostic reports and vital signs on patient charts after nursing staff review. Accurate transcription and order entry of physician directives are also required, in accordance with LMC policies and procedures.

Additional duties involve admitting patients and ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed. This position mandates strict adherence to patient confidentiality protocols. The Patient Registration Clerk will report directly to the Director of Admissions.

Qualifications:

Education

Required: High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: Familiarity with Medical Terminology. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous.

Experience

A minimum of one year of experience in an acute Emergency Department setting as an admitting clerk, focusing on scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and billing processes.
