About the Role

Halifax Health is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Specialist to join our team. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth registration and scheduling process for patients. Your primary responsibility will be to accurately and efficiently register patients, verify insurance information, and schedule appointments. You will also be responsible for communicating with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure that all necessary information is obtained and that patients are aware of their financial obligations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Register patients and verify insurance information
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate with healthcare providers
  • Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure accurate and timely information
  • Process and manage patient payments and financial obligations
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in healthcare registration or scheduling
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance procedures
