Patient Access Coordinator

About the Role
Halifax Health is seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Specialist to join our team in the Center for Oncology Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing duties associated with Oncology Scheduling, Infusion Center Scheduling, Phone Screening, Patient Access, Order Transcription, Medical Records, and Intake of New Patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain and document lab, pathology, genetics, outside clinical notes, and other necessary information for patient oncology records.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks, including reminder calls and importing records into patient charts.
- Interact with patients and their representatives in a customer-focused and compassionate manner, providing outstanding customer service and patient experience.
- Effectively communicate with individuals from varying socio-economic backgrounds and obtain pertinent information.
- Operate office equipment and use computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, ARIA, and Meditech.
- Organize and manage multiple tasks, prioritizing deadlines and ensuring timely completion.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred.
- One year of work experience in healthcare or customer service environment, preferably in a medical records or scheduling role.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
