Vice President of Capital Markets

Located in a major financial hub, the Vice President of Capital Markets position reports directly to one of the Co-Heads of the Transaction Team.

This role will oversee the capital raising initiatives for MiddleGround Capital, focusing on deal-specific financing for new acquisitions and optimizing the capital structures of existing portfolio companies. Additionally, the role will support co-investment efforts and other fundraising activities as needed.


Investment and Portfolio Financing:

Direct financing initiatives for new acquisitions and manage the capital structures of current portfolio companies in collaboration with deal teams and debt advisors, as required.


Relationship Management:
Cultivate and maintain relationships with lenders and debt advisory firms within the middle market, as well as with MiddleGround's investors. Represent MiddleGround at industry conferences and events.

Stakeholder Communication:

Work closely with internal teams, General/Limited Partners, external advisors, and management of portfolio companies to ensure alignment on capital raising activities, progress updates, and key milestones. Ensure all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the lifecycle of portfolio companies.


Market Research and Trends Analysis:
Remain informed about industry trends, credit market conditions, and emerging capital structures to enhance portfolio company capitalization strategies.

Collaboration on Exits & Realizations:
Partner with the VP of Exits & Realizations to provide insights on optimal timelines for portfolio exits and related strategies.

Leadership and Mentorship:

Offer guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering growth and development within the team and across related teams within the organization.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field is required; a master's degree is preferred.
5 to 7 years of experience in a similar leadership role.
Experience in direct lending or leveraged finance; familiarity with the syndicated loan market is a plus.
Background in industrial sectors is strongly preferred.
Strong financial analysis capabilities, including expertise in financial modeling, valuation methods, and a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external advisors, and portfolio company management.
Experience with sponsor leverage buyouts and corporate debt transactions is essential.
Credit analysis skills are preferred.
Proficient project management skills, with the ability to coordinate and lead cross-functional teams both directly and indirectly.
Proactive in keeping abreast of market developments.
Results-driven, focused on delivering high-quality outcomes through innovative problem-solving.
