Ideal Candidate Profile (Requirements)

A bachelor's degree in a relevant field along with a minimum of fifteen years of experience in field construction management. An equivalent combination of education and experience totaling twenty years or more is acceptable.

Advanced computer skills are essential, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, email, and scheduling applications. Familiarity with department-specific applications may be required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must.


The ideal candidate should be an energetic, highly self-motivated individual who thrives in a team environment and possesses a passion for collaboration and professional growth.

Proven experience in strategic planning and execution is essential.

Strong leadership and team management capabilities are required.

Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are necessary.

Experience in budget management is preferred.

Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment is crucial.

Leadership experience in construction field management is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

Develop and implement a strategic vision for Field Operations that aligns with the overall business objectives. Create detailed annual plans, monitor the progress of these plans, and provide updates to leadership.

Evaluate industry trends, strategies, and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and further enhance Gray's field operations.

Prepare and present regular reports on Field Operations to Gray leadership as needed.

Foster the growth and development of the Field Operations leadership teams by offering guidance, support, and performance feedback.

Establish and enforce processes and procedures within field operations that align with the business goals and vision.

Collaborate with teams to design effective training and development programs for field team members.

Develop and manage budgets for Field Operations, ensuring efficient resource utilization and implementing cost-control measures as necessary.

Ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures within the Field Operations group.

Build and maintain strong relationships with Market Leaders, Customers, and team members at Gray by addressing any concerns that arise.

Lead recruitment efforts that align with market strategies, basing hiring decisions on annual market strategies and adjusting according to project needs. Utilize resource tracking software to monitor resources within Field Operations.

Develop the Quality program within Field Operations to align with operational and corporate quality standards.

Continue to enhance the service team to support more complex and larger projects and procurement offerings.

Regularly visit and assess job sites to ensure adequate staffing and compliance with safety, quality, and project expectations. Inspect ongoing work to ensure that it meets specifications and adheres to construction schedules.

Participate in various committees and management meetings as required.

Promote and align with Gray Construction's safety, quality, and service programs both internally and externally.

The work environment is a typical office setting with moderate noise levels and controlled temperature/humidity. Overtime may be necessary, and travel may be required, including occasional overnight stays.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Oversees multiple subordinate supervisors who manage several team members. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises non-supervisory team members. Conducts supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving issues.
