Position Overview

The Vice President/Director of Capital Markets at MiddleGround Capital plays a pivotal role in driving the firm's capital raising initiatives. This position is essential for overseeing the financing of new acquisitions and optimizing the capital structures of existing portfolio companies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investment Financing: Spearhead the financing strategies for new acquisitions while managing the capital structures of current portfolio entities in collaboration with deal teams and financial advisors.
  • Relationship Development: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with lenders and debt advisory firms within the middle market, as well as with MiddleGround's investor base. Act as a representative for MiddleGround at industry gatherings and conferences.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal teams, General and Limited Partners, external consultants, and management of portfolio companies to ensure alignment on capital raising efforts, progress updates, and key milestones.
  • Market Insights: Remain informed about industry dynamics, credit market trends, and innovative capital structures to enhance portfolio company financing.
  • Exit Strategy Collaboration: Partner with the VP/Director of Exits & Realizations to determine optimal timelines for portfolio exits and related strategies.
  • Leadership Development: Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering their professional growth and encouraging collaboration across related teams within the organization.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related discipline is required; a master's degree is preferred.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in a comparable leadership role.
  • Proven experience in direct lending or leveraged finance; familiarity with the syndicated loan market is advantageous.
  • Experience in the industrial sector is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, particularly in financial modeling, valuation methods, and a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, enabling effective collaboration with internal teams, external advisors, and portfolio management.
  • Experience with sponsor leveraged buyouts and corporate debt transactions.
  • Credit analysis expertise is preferred.
  • Strong project management capabilities, with a track record of leading cross-functional teams.
  • Proactive in keeping abreast of market developments.
  • Results-driven, focused on delivering high-quality outcomes through innovative problem-solving.
