Role and Responsibilities:
The Client Service Specialist acquires the necessary skills to address inquiries from agents and policyholders regarding Traditional Life, Health, Disability Income, Universal Life, and Long-Term Care policies, and executes the appropriate transactions to fulfill service requests on these policies.
The Client Service Specialist possesses specific areas of expertise while also cross-training in all aspects to master the service of all products.
Your responsibilities will include:
Responding to inquiries about policies, procedures, and forms related to conversions, reissues, increases, decreases, premium classification changes, death benefit option changes, reinstatements, changes within the free look period, UL reissues, LTC changes, and other policy information (values, history, dates, contract language).Recording calls and meticulously documenting all correspondence and actions taken.
Understanding and enforcing all company and state regulations that pertain to processing and finalizing all requests (replacement, NAIC, taxes).Identifying appropriate forms, requirements, and computer transactions to issue conversions and execute change requests on policies; dispatching forms and instructions to authorized individuals; verifying that forms are completed accurately; endorsing forms when necessary, creating letters, and sending e-delivery contracts to agents.
Communicating with agents, policy owners, underwriters, banks, and interdepartmental personnel to gather information needed to complete the processing of applications.Quoting policy values, processing loans, dividends, partial withdrawals, and other modifications when handling policy changes or conversions.
Investigating files for problem cases, history of policy transactions, and correcting files issued in error.
Determining necessary underwriting for transactions and referring to underwriting for evaluation (includes increases in coverage or additions of benefit/rider, changes to coverage, Premium Class Changes, rate reductions, reinstatements, and conversions with changes).Executing and processing necessary accounting transactions (refunds, additions, reversals, and transfers, etc.).Conducting data checks for contracts and illustrations.
Verifying contracts for appropriate documents for mailing.The ability to function effectively in the workplace as demonstrated through integrity, courage to act, and communication skills.The ability to collaborate effectively with others as shown through respect for individuals and commitment to teamwork.The ability to meet organizational goals and customer expectations as evidenced by accountability for results, commitment to service, and initiative.The ability to perform essential job functions as demonstrated through growth in job knowledge and professional development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree with two years of customer service-related experience or five years of customer service experience (e.g., call center, banking, insurance, etc.)
Basic knowledge of servicing SFB products and regulations preferred.Basic knowledge of tax and replacement laws as they pertain to SFB products/states preferred.Basic knowledge of Policy Administration systems and sub-systems, as well as an understanding of other departments' responsibilities, functions, and procedures preferred.Strong communication skills, both oral and written.Good organizational skills.Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows.Good typing skills (25 wpm).
