The Juvenile Reporting Center (JRC) Advisor plays a crucial role in supporting youth and families as they navigate challenges and work towards healing and hope for a brighter future.

POSITION GRADE: 73 [ Salary Range: 15hr-20hr based on qualifications and experience]

DEPARTMENT: Juvenile Reporting Center (JRC)

SUPERVISOR: JRC Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of the JRC Program Supervisor, the JRC Advisor is tasked with delivering high-quality care and oversight for clients enrolled in the JRC program. This role requires adherence to the treatment plans tailored for each individual, ensuring all responsibilities align with the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values, Guiding Principles, and Strategic Plan.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Uphold the Agency's Code of Conduct, along with all relevant Policies and Procedures. Ensure confidentiality and security of all client and staff-related information. Guide clients through the daily activities of the JRC Program. Provide both individual and group supervision to clients, maintaining accountability for their well-being. Participate in the maintenance and cleanliness of the JRC facility. Prepare meals in accordance with established menu plans. Enforce rules and structure within the JRC Program. Establish behavioral expectations for clients participating in the JRC Program. Implement approved crisis intervention and prevention strategies as per Agency guidelines. Collaborate with the program supervisor and case manager to facilitate life skills and psycho-educational groups for youth. Transport clients to various program activities. Assist recreation staff in creating a weekly activity calendar and support youth during participation. Maintain accurate daily and group logs for each client. Document daily progress notes in the NYS CONNECTIONS database. Compile weekly summaries for each youth and submit them to Probation. Act as the primary counselor for designated youth as assigned by the supervisor.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follow established policies and procedures, providing suggestions for improvements when necessary. Demonstrate punctuality and commitment to attendance at meetings, training sessions, and other assigned duties. Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor. Exhibit cultural competency towards clients, families, and staff, promoting respect and understanding through training and Agency cultural initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate's degree in a human services field is preferred. At least one year of experience in child care is preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

Availability to work evenings. Possession of a valid NYS driver's license in good standing. Comfort in engaging with high-risk youth in community settings.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The role requires regular physical activities including standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and climbing stairs.

Ability to drive. Ability to walk short distances. Ability to navigate stairs. Ability to respond quickly in emergencies.
