Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging ELA instruction to high school learners in grades 9-12, emphasizing a culture of inquiry and exploration.
- Adhere to the Massachusetts curriculum frameworks and the Ostiguy High School curriculum guide to ensure educational standards are met.
- Create and implement educational materials, assessments, and resources to evaluate student progress.
- Maintain precise records of attendance and academic performance.
- Establish a conducive learning atmosphere through effective classroom management techniques.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to program enhancement initiatives.
- Communicate regularly with students and their families regarding academic achievements and behavioral matters.
- Facilitate student-teacher mediation processes as necessary.
- Participate in and lead extracurricular activities as required.
- Attend and contribute to all staff meetings and training sessions.
- Comply with all policies and procedures established by Ostiguy High School.
- Collaborate closely with counseling staff to support student behavior management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and one to three years of teaching experience with youth are essential.
- Certification as an ELA Teacher is required or must be obtained within the first academic year of employment.
- Experience teaching in an alternative high school setting is highly desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team and engage effectively with parents.
- Demonstrated flexibility, initiative, and teamwork skills are necessary.
- Proficiency in interacting sensitively with individuals from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
