On-Site Equipment Technician

A Field Service Specialist is responsible for overseeing all on-site installations, repairs, maintenance, and testing activities. This role involves diagnosing technical issues and implementing effective solutions. The technician ensures exceptional service and customer support during field operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots various types of machinery to guarantee optimal performance at job sites or within the workshop.
  • Conducts routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment, along with safety inspections and pre-delivery checks.
  • Inspects, repairs, and adjusts heavy machinery as necessary, completing all required documentation for assigned equipment.
  • Participates in training sessions as directed by the Service Manager.
  • Reports any tools, equipment, or vehicles that are unsafe or not in working condition to the Service Manager.
  • Maintains tools in compliance with MSHA and OSHA standards.
  • Performs basic computer tasks, including managing work orders, sourcing parts, and communicating through email.
  • Engages with colleagues and clients to ensure the availability of high-quality equipment and to exceed customer expectations.
  • Coordinates workflow according to schedule.
  • Manages all on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and testing tasks.
  • Identifies technical errors and determines appropriate solutions.
  • Generates timely and detailed service reports.
  • Operates vehicles safely and utilizes field automation systems.
  • Adheres to all company procedures and protocols.
  • Collaborates with the technical team and shares information across the organization.
  • Understands customer needs and provides suitable recommendations.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with clients.
  • Demonstrates strong teamwork skills.

Required Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of diesel engines and construction machinery.
  • Demonstrated experience in field service roles.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and maintain technical equipment.
  • Must possess personal tools and a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.

Military experience may be considered in lieu of formal education or certification as applicable.

Work Environment

  • Work environment aligns with that of construction, heavy machinery, and repair facilities.
  • May involve working in extreme conditions at job sites.
  • Position may require extensive driving to various job locations.

Physical Requirements

Must be physically capable of working in a job site environment for extended periods, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, squatting, crouching, and reaching. Must be able to work in challenging conditions at job sites. Availability for night and weekend on-call duties is required.
