A Field Project Technician is responsible for overseeing all on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and testing operations. This role involves diagnosing technical issues and implementing effective solutions. The technician plays a crucial role in providing service and customer support during field assignments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot various types of machinery to ensure optimal performance at job sites or within the workshop.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and safety inspections, ensuring equipment is clean and operational.
  • Inspect, repair, and adjust heavy machinery as necessary, completing all required documentation for assigned equipment.
  • Engage in training programs as directed by the Service Manager.
  • Report any tools, equipment, or vehicles that are unsafe or not in working condition to the Service Manager.
  • Maintain tools in compliance with MSHA and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform basic computer tasks, including managing work orders and communicating via email.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients to guarantee high-quality equipment availability and exceed customer expectations.
  • Ensure workflow aligns with scheduling requirements.
  • Manage all aspects of on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and testing tasks.
  • Identify technical errors and devise appropriate solutions.
  • Generate timely and detailed service reports.
  • Operate vehicles safely and utilize field automation systems.
  • Adhere to all company procedures and protocols.
  • Work cooperatively with the technical team and share relevant information across the organization.
  • Understand customer needs and provide suitable recommendations.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork skills.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of diesel engines and construction machinery.
  • Demonstrated experience in field service roles.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and maintain technical equipment.
  • Possession of personal tools and a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as needed.

Military experience may be considered in lieu of formal education or certification as applicable.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

  • The work environment is typical of construction, heavy equipment, and repair facilities.
  • May involve working in extreme conditions at job sites.
  • This role may require extensive daily travel to various job locations.

Physical Requirements

Must be capable of working in a job site environment for extended periods, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, squatting, crouching, and reaching. Must be able to work in challenging conditions at job sites. Availability for night and weekend on-call duties is required.
