Position Overview:

The role of Senior Inland Marine Underwriter is available in a hybrid format, with potential locations including Morristown NJ, Cherry Hill NJ, or NYC.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze underwriting data to develop and sustain a profitable portfolio within the Seneca division with minimal oversight.
  • Manage agency relationships through ongoing customer service and marketing initiatives.
  • Act as a technical authority in underwriting and industry-specific knowledge.
  • Mentor junior underwriters to enhance organizational value.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet departmental objectives.
Performance Goals:
  • Achieve profitability, retention, and premium writing targets set by the department.
  • Make independent decisions within the underwriting authority and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Assist in formulating annual business objectives for assigned agents/producers and ensure accountability.
  • Stay informed on market trends and identify potential risks to the department.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of department products and services, including both admitted and non-admitted business.
  • Effectively communicate the department's value proposition.
  • Engage in training and departmental initiatives, and participate in projects as needed.
  • Travel may be required.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of six years of experience in property & casualty underwriting, with a preference for commercial Inland Marine expertise.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills to drive new business and manage a substantial renewal portfolio.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Relevant underwriting and industry designations are preferred.
  • Established connections within the wholesale and retail sectors in the Midwest are highly desirable.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent, along with CRIS, AMIM, or CPCU designations, is preferred.
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to align with C&F's risk management protocols.
