Position: Senior Underwriter - Retail Excess

Overview:
The Senior Underwriter will oversee the management, business expansion, and profitability of a complex portfolio focused on Excess Casualty, primarily within the Construction sector.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage an established portfolio of business while striving to enhance the assigned territory.
2. Underwrite high-value and intricate risks in alignment with the business strategy and within designated underwriting authority.
3. Operate under general management guidance, handling assignments that require a significant level of technical expertise and coordination.

Core Duties:
- Underwrite, assess, and authorize risk acceptability, determining profitable pricing and preparing quotations for both new and renewal business.
- Provide exceptional service to existing clients.
- Promote and market company offerings to designated producers.
- Analyze and evaluate profitability, volume, and service outcomes for assigned producers.
- Contribute to the development of the annual business strategy and assess results for assigned producers.
- Achieve premium, loss ratio, and service objectives as designated.
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitive landscape, and distribution systems.
- Engage in training initiatives to enhance knowledge.
- Mentor junior underwriters and assist in their professional development.
- Lead special underwriting projects and presentations.

Qualifications:
- A college degree or equivalent is preferred; CPCU designation is advantageous.
- A minimum of five years of experience in underwriting Commercial Umbrella/Excess business, with a strong emphasis on Construction.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to influence others.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time management capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proven customer service and relationship-building skills.
- A collaborative team player with a strong drive for success.
- Ability to cultivate new business relationships.
- Adhere to departmental guidelines and risk management protocols.
- A commitment to continuous learning and personal growth through various educational opportunities.
- Willingness to travel as needed for producer marketing and corporate events.
