Position Overview:

The BIM/VDC Operations Manager leads the Virtual Design and Construction department, overseeing the preconstruction, engineering, and field implementation of all Building Information Modeling (BIM) related project outputs for the designated business unit or region.


Reports to :
BU: Preconstruction Manager, Operations Manager, or Senior Operations Manager

Regional :
Regional Preconstruction Manager or Regional Operations Manager

Additionally has a "dotted line" relationship for coordination and support with:

Key Responsibilities:


Supervising the activities of VDC Coordinators, VDC Engineers, and VDC Project Engineers, while providing performance feedback to Operations Staff and the VDC Regional Manager.

Conducting site visits as necessary to troubleshoot BIM-related issues and resolve challenges.


Establishing BIM quality standards and ensuring compliance through expertise and guidance provided on-site, during BIM coordination meetings, etc.

Offering specialized knowledge to the business unit, including insights on local standards, owner requirements, and other pertinent regulations.

Consulting with Project Leadership on staffing and related matters during project initiation.

Facilitating workshops and training sessions to implement BIM in both preconstruction and project activities.

Building and maintaining relationships with engineers, design consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and owner's representatives.

Acquiring a comprehensive understanding of contract documents, both 2D and related 3D deliverables.

The salary range for this position is estimated to be $130,000.00 annually.

Qualifications:


A Bachelor's degree along with a minimum of twelve (12) years of construction experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience with progressively more responsible exposure to design, cost, sequencing, logistics, and field installations of project components as it pertains to BIM.

At least six (6) of those years must be related to BIM/VDC.
Extensive knowledge of construction BIM tools and applications in cost estimation, scheduling, and coordination principles.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in computer applications, including the Microsoft Office suite.
Utilizes advanced technologies such as BIM and LEAN methodologies.
Demonstrated ability to present technical information effectively. Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
Exhibited leadership and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with BIM-based software applications such as Navisworks Manage, Trimble SketchUp, and Autodesk Revit is essential.

Physical Requirements:

Performing the required duties necessitates the physical ability to occasionally climb permanent and temporary stairs, ascend ladders, navigate construction areas, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Occasional use of construction personnel hoists may be required.

Specific vision abilities necessary for this role include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

This position regularly requires the use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, as well as sitting, talking, hearing, and standing.

Employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee works on-site at construction locations where they are regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; and the risk of electrical shock.

The noise level in this work environment typically ranges from moderate to very loud.
