Position Overview: Oversee, analyze, and evaluate information pertaining to Mechanical and Electrical systems essential for timely and safe project execution, adhering to budget constraints and quality specifications outlined in the contract documents.

Reporting Structure: Reports to MEP Manager, MEP Project Manager, or Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Specifically regarding mechanical and electrical systems:
  • Direct the project team, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure effective collaboration and efficient installation of systems.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive list of contract items for all components, materials, and systems, ensuring compliance with project timelines and approval statuses.
  • Engage in schedule update meetings, providing current information for accurate project scheduling.
  • Assess and manage the handling of Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Oversee budget management, including review and negotiation of change orders while understanding the financial standing of subcontractors.
  • Mentor and supervise Assistant MEP Engineers.
  • Collaborate with the VDC Engineer to lead the MEP Coordination Process, ensuring compliance with design requirements and quality standards.
  • Draft scope of work documents detailing responsibilities for trades and specific temporary operations.
  • Work alongside the MEP Superintendent to address conflicts between mechanical and electrical systems and site logistics, ensuring adherence to project schedules.
  • Co-manage the overall turnover process, including start-up, testing, commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Conduct regular site inspections with MEP staff to verify compliance with contract documents and approved submittals.
  • Identify and communicate challenging installation requirements to field staff in a timely manner for effective planning and execution.
  • Secure all necessary municipal and agency documentation for temporary certificates of information and system operation.
  • Develop and implement a quality control plan in partnership with the MEP Superintendent.

The estimated salary range for this position is approximately $90,000.00 annually.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Technical proficiency and understanding of mechanical and electrical systems relevant to various project types and their interrelations.
  • Experience with BIM technologies and familiarity with VDC process workflows and clash detection.
  • Strong business acumen for planning, managing, and executing essential duties, complemented by excellent communication skills and proficiency in computer applications.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities to foster the development of a high-performing team.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. Duties may require climbing stairs, using construction personnel hoists, and navigating construction sites. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This role may also require the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment: The employee regularly works on-site at construction locations, which may expose them to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, and outside weather conditions. Noise levels in these environments can range from moderate to very loud.
