POSITION: Facility Maintenance Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Maintenance

WORK SCHEDULE: As assigned

SALARY: $1,580.46 Biweekly


The incumbent functions as a Facility Maintenance Specialist within the Maintenance Department, tasked with the upkeep and sanitation of County buildings and grounds.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform thorough cleaning of facilities, which includes dusting and polishing furniture, walls, doors, and other surfaces, as well as washing windows and maintaining floor cleanliness through sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
  • Refinish hard surface floors and manage the collection of recyclable materials.
  • Ensure restrooms are cleaned and disinfected, including urinals, toilets, sinks, and mirrors, while also checking and replenishing supplies as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness in both exterior garbage and interior recycling areas, ensuring safety and accessibility.
  • Utilize equipment such as leaf blowers for outdoor maintenance and shovels for snow removal around entrances.
  • Safeguard the facility by ensuring that all doors are secured during operational hours.
  • Carry out additional tasks as directed by supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Must meet all hiring criteria, including the successful completion of a background check.
  • Possess a working knowledge of cleaning and sanitation practices, safety protocols, and universal health precautions.
  • Ability to comprehend and execute oral instructions, work orders, and safety data sheets.
  • Capable of operating various hand and power tools, including mops, brooms, and vacuum cleaners.
  • Physical ability to perform essential job functions, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods.
  • Demonstrate confidentiality in handling department information as per State regulations.
  • Adhere to all workplace policies, including those related to attendance, safety, and conduct.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under time constraints.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues and the public, demonstrating professionalism and respect.
  • Availability to work evening shifts as required.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

The incumbent is responsible for executing duties according to established schedules and supervisor directives, planning and organizing their work while referring unusual matters to their supervisor.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The role requires sustained physical effort, including bending, reaching, and lifting, as well as the ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The position involves working in various settings, including office buildings and outdoor areas, while handling potentially hazardous cleaning materials and adhering to safety protocols to prevent injury.
